Landa Park, in the heart of New Braunfels, offers both relaxed and energetic activities for visitors to enjoy, depending on how much free time is available.
The nearly 200-acre park has picnic facilities under giant, ancient oak trees, as well as many walking or jogging trails.
There’s even a miniature train that chugs and puffs its way around the city park to the delight of many children and parents.
Other activities include paddle boating, which park officials say is one of the best ways to see the Comal Springs and Landa Lake.
For amateur and beginner golfers, a round of miniature golf is a must, while others can relax at the playground or enjoy the flora and fauna on the Panther Canyon Nature Trail
Don’t forget to enjoy Landa Park’s walking arboretum tour where on your stroll, you will be able to enjoy more than 70 different species of trees.
For many people, coming to the park is a family affair and individual picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Park Rangers are available during opening hours and they collect the $10 per table picnic fee.
However, the fee is applied during the summer season and residents living within the corporate city limits are exempt from paying the charge – for their first table.
If plans call for more organization or more space, such as a family reunion, business meeting, wedding reception, seasonal party or other special event, the Landa Haus, located in the heart of Landa Park, can be the solution.
The facility can accommodate up to 170 guests, has restrooms and disabled accessibility, as well as an indoor kitchenette.
The climate-controlled facility is available year-round, however, a large outdoor barbeque pit sits next to a covered outside pavilion with ceiling fans and picnic tables overlooking Landa Lake, if needed.
Reservations for Landa Haus can be made up to 18 months in advance, and a $150 refundable damage deposit is required for each rental, in addition to the rental amount.
Other Landa Park attractions include the following:

• Landa Park boathouse – Located just behind Founder’s Oak, the boathouse offers visitors an enjoyable and healthy way to tour the lake, home of the Comal Springs.

• Miniature golf – The Landa Park miniature golf course has 18 challenging golf holes.

• Miniature Train – The Landa Park miniature train is a fun trip for all ages, and the train trip is a unique way to explore the local park. Train rides are available for individuals, families, groups and even company picnics.
